Since I became my own boss and started thinking like not only a boss, but also a Queen, I have realized that dreams are just that: dreams. If you never take action on them, they’ll stay in your heart, needing to be released and eventually give you despair and a feeling of guilt, self-loathing, and lots of negativity. Trust me, I’ve been there. Growing up in poverty it’s so easy to get caught up in the “this is just how it’s supposed to be” lifestyle but I know I want more out of life. I want to be successful in all that I do. I want to find happiness in my work. I want to share my information, my talent, my knowledge, and my resources with the world. I want to inspire people and touch their hearts. I want to be a blessing to someone, even if it’s just something small like “your story inspired me to create my own business”. That’s something I crave for. I just want to help the world no matter how small.
My point in all of that is to say that if you don’t take the first step of action on your dreams, you more than likely will never meet them in the real world. What’s the first action? Keep reading to find out.
I’ve seen/read/heard/ and have been told so many times by successful people (some well off financially, some not but are happy anyway) that writing down your dreams automatically turns them into goals. There are other actions you must take after you write down your dreams too, like looking at them everyday, whether you want to or not, whether you believe in them or not (eventually you will, with these steps I’m going to list).
- Writing down your dreams, is step one.
Honestly, this is such an important step of the process. Please do not underestimate this. Writing down your dreams helps to see that these words on the piece of paper is important to you. It’s something that has set in your soul for a long time, even if it just manifested itself into your head while reading this! You can write them down anywhere, but it helps if you have a folder, journal, planner, or notebook that you look at often or will see often. Ever saw that commercial with the girl who wanted to join the basketball team at her school? She used sticky notes to write her goal down and then placed the notes higher, as time moved along, while she also worked on her goal all at the same time (talk about working smarter and not harder!). That commercial inspires me. And her actions, is exactly what you can do to achieve your goals too. Wanna use a sticky note? Go ahead! As long as you look at your dream-turned-goal everyday.

2. The next step into achieving your goals is to speak them aloud.
This may sound silly, but our tongues have so much power and what we say, happens. We speak over our lives and whatever comes out, is what happens. Speaking them aloud makes them happen, or makes them not happen. Do I sound like a broken record yet? I hope so, I want this to set in your mind. Let it marinate and develop its own little cloud of memory into your brain. So again, if you speak victory over your life, you’ll see and receive victory in your life. If you speak negativity and doubt over your life, then my friend, you’re in for a very difficult ride. This is also something I’ve experienced personally and I know the power of the tongue all too well. I’m not going to speak about how bad my life has been and give you a story about my life because I’m sure you’re all used to that and even though I still read about progressing and bringing positivity into my life, reading these “I was just like you” stories gets old. What I am going to say, however is that since I started speaking victory over my life, life has been a hell of a lot easier to live. I haven’t noticed drama and pain and irritation like I used to, I haven’t experienced much hate, giving and receiving, and I’ve been the happiest in my life thus far. So yes, it works. Does it take away all the negative in your life and change your life 180 for the better? No. I won’t even give you that lie. I still have some let-downs and I still get upset and even lose motivation every now and then. But being positive, speaking positive, and acting positive makes life so much easier and worth while. Which brings me to the final step.
3. Take actions over your dream-turned-goals.
This isn’t the actual factual final step but this is the three top most important steps and this is the final step of the “top three” list. Taking actions over your goals means exactly what it says. Once you have your dreams written down, they automatically turn into goals, then you start speaking your goals aloud, speaking them with a positive and strong mindset (eventually you’ll get there if you aren’t yet, I did), and then start taking actions. Action include anything from sharing your goal with anybody, to making a go-getter plan for reaching that goal to investing in your goal (this includes time, research, blood, sweat, tears, and money). This step is funny to me, because even though it’s the last in the top three, it’s one of the most important steps to me. Your goals wont get anywhere in the world without actionable steps. Steps 1 and 2 give you the confidence to take action but honestly, how far will you get without taking action? This step is also the hardest because we are putting ourselves out there. No matter how positive you are about your goals, there will be trials, failures, mistakes, and more. That’s what scares us. Hell, I know it’s what scares me. I’m a shy and reserved person 99% of the time so to put myself out there with all I’ve got and then not get the results I wanted and was looking for or to see a small mistake I’ve made that people probably won’t ever even notice, it takes a toll on my confidence. But I don’t give up. I keep working and upgrading my actions until I get where I want to be, then I revise, re-plan and upgrade again.
I have created a worksheet for you and I want you to download it and utilize it. This is my gift to you. I hope it inspires you to reach for those goals, turn those dreams (no matter how “far out” they are) into goals and take actions on making them come true. You deserve it.
